I currently live in Tokyo, Japan. Because I've been abroad for the past 5 years in support of my wife's career with the U.S. military, I have not been able to return to the kind of clinical nursing role I held in the United States. However, I have used this time to help friends, family, and the communities where we live while working remotely and developing practical skills in AI-assisted research, programming, web design, data analysis, and project coordination.
Why The Beckoning Cat
The beckoning cat, or maneki-neko, is a familiar Japanese figure associated with welcome and good fortune. The name fits this site because I am inviting professional opportunities, new experiences, and stronger friendships into the next part of my life. It is also a nod to Japan, where this work is taking shape.
Mission
The Beckoning Cat is a living professional profile: part résumé, part project portfolio, and part introduction. It brings together my clinical background, independent work, technical learning, research, and interests so that new contacts can understand both what I have done and where I might contribute next. I plan to keep adding projects, tools, and articles as the work develops.

I am an American with ten years of professional experience working as a Registered Nurse (RN-BSN), focusing on behavioral health, psychiatric intake, school nursing, research, and patient education. Since relocating overseas in 2021, I have worked independently on websites, assessment tools, workflow systems, and research-heavy projects while preparing to return to community and clinical service.
